PHYSICAL TRAINING
COURSES
Basic
physical education courses are given twice a week every semester(Total
8 semesters). At the end of each semester midshipmen are tested for
the courses they take. The physical activities each midshipman participates
in during a semester are:
A.
Basic Physical Training :
(Strength, Opstacle, Endurance, Speed, Flexibility etc.)
B.
Physical Training for War Conditions:
( Naval Pentathlon, Abandon Ship, Survival at sea, Hand to Hand Combat,
Life Saving , Diving)
C.
Olympic Branches :
( Swimming, Water Polo, Tracking, Basketball, Volleyball, Soccer,
Handball, Tennis etc.)
D.
Theoretical Education :
(Basic Anatomy, Physiology, Hygiene, Work out Techniques, First Aid)
Besides
all these, each candidate goes trough A Six Weeks of Plebe Summer
( Intensive Introductory Training) to be prepared for the Academy
both physically and mentally. ( If required, candidates may leave
the Academy during this period.)
In
order to be considered successful in P.E. , midshipmen are obliged
to take at least 60 points out of 100 in three different areas, Mandatory
P.T. Courses , Elective P.T. Courses and Skills Tests, every year.
