ANALYZING THE PROBLEMS OF SUPPLY PROCESS BY USING SIX SIGMA APPROACH

Nowadays, developing systems which focuses on customer needs is the key element for the existence in today’s competitive market environment. To chase this goal, it is necessary to evaluate the data by using statistical methods in order to manage and restructure the work processes.
Recently, many companies, by using 6 Sigma approach are seeking the right method of providing the continuous success. 6 Sigma approach is mainly a method which focuses on decreasing the defects and costs by increasing quality and decreasing the variability. There are many success stories of 6 sigma of which the companies implemented.
Even though, government enterprises like Naval Shipyards are non- profit organizations, they have processes for efficient use of resources and providing the best customer satisfaction. Therefore, they have to analyze their processes as per the customer needs and to develop them. The finalization of Shipbuilding and Maintenance projects as per planned schedule is the main criteria for the evaluation of Naval Shipyards’ success. This can only be maintained by providing the resources like workmanship and material as planned.
In this thesis, 6 Sigma approach is used to analyze and to develop supply process, which is one of the most important key element of Shipbuilding and Maintenance activities in Naval Shipyards.
