MOVING BOUNDARY INDUCED FLOW SIMULATIONS

Keywords Newton’s method, Krylov solvers, overlapping domain, interpolation

The primary objective of this study is to develop robust, efficient and paralleliz- able methods for nonlinear problems, especially those that arise in the computational modeling of flows induced by the motion of solid surfaces. One way solving multi- component systems of nonlinear equations is to use Newton’s Method, in which the linear systems that characterize Newton steps are solved using iterative techniques. We use preconditioned Krylov solvers for this purpose. Multiple, overlapping sub- domains are used in the case model problems of multiple solid-motions. Interactions of the induced flows are modeled through the couplings of sub-problems in the over- lapped regions, where interpolation and restriction operators of multi-grid techniques are utilized.
