9. SERVICE DISCOVERY FOR SENSOR NETWORKS (SDSN) IN THE
INTERNET. A . Levent TUŠKAN , 2004
Keywords: Sensor networks, Service discovery, Service discovery protocols, SLP, Internet, search engine.
Recent scientific improvements have enabled the development of new wireless devices which are named sensor nodes. Since they are developed for self sufficient usage concept, such devices have different architecture from traditional wireless network devices. Low cost, low power consumption, small size, data gathering and conveyance functions are typical differences.
Network which includes variety types of sensors that can be named as sensor networks. Sensor networks can be Sensor networks are used for such as habitat monitoring, life relief operations, bush fire response as well as military, scientific and commercial purposes.
Some sensor networks already present services in the Internet, but it takes long time to locate and reach out a specific sensor networks. Moreover, sensor networks are not easily handled for the researcher, which makes a research in the Internet.
Our aim is to prepare a framework for sensor networks. This framework will enable the researchers who are interested in this area to reach services and knowledges from different resources which place in the Internet.
This
study guides the Internet user with the aim of a search engine coordinated
with a database where the data about sensor networks are maintained. To the
best of our knowledge there is no similar mechanism available for the time
being. This service will be put forward for scientific intention and for free.
Moreover this mechanism can be improved by companies, research laboratories,
university and scientist.
